you know the Disney corp bought lucasfilm  for $4.05Bn !!! on top of the $3 Bn lucas is already worth ,so EVERYTHING that LFL owns passes over to Disney including movie and merchandising rights for both the Star Wars and Indiana Jones brands.oh  $2 billion of that will be in stock so more Disney makes more he makes ! The man is a damned genius and as no one had shares or anything in Lucas film its ALL his every penny ! he was truly the man with a plan

well those billions have to be found and made up for ,so Disney store, like the Warner store before it ,are making exclusive merchandise as well as Disney has also announced Star Wars Episode VII will be released 2015 with Episode VIII and IX following on in 2-3 year intervals.
George Lucas will stay on as Consultant for the movies

current selection

well this is a line of 14″ Figures exclusive to them as well as children dress-up, apparel, stationery and plush. and mugs etc ,with more to come
Each figure was engineered in-house at the Disney Store’s headquarters, sculpted digitally,

the figure has a  high quality sound box activated by small, unobtrusive buttons on the front of the figures. Weapons are non-removable , with red LEDs that activate when the sounds play.the weapons activated by a separate button for three different sounds and the speech is around 15 phrases
I’m looking forward to the small PVC as well to see what we get the detail looks superb
So seeing about these online here there’s a video here

I saw the Stormtrooper in store a week ago  ( one figure in large i do not have),  Hasbro made a truly awful one in the 90’s there was a 12-inch vynal kit and then the über sideshow quality pieces of every trooper variant at a 200 pound a piece price mark, but i needed a trooper for my Return of the Jedi (I think looks more like the Star Wars version)electronic DARTH VADER which i got cheap in about 1999 ,so this was an answer at £20 , the black series 6 inch range are same price and this is twice the size and fx and for a disney store exclusive where things are usually overpriced a good deal

Now the main issue with these figures is their plastic look cheap shiny gloss but are actually well made tight joints hefty some weight a kid will love it and find it hard to break
As a collector it looks the part i did look up storm trooper Armour and this id say is 95% Accurate and im picky, see the buttons on the stomach there should be 4 not 3 and also ridges on helmet side should be blue not grey and the black mouth section is not right ,that’s it only faults
It sounds great and a nice piece on the shelf and boy is it big i did not realize until i got home he dwarfs my luke and han and is same size as my Vader so he is the BIG trooper 14 inch
DSCF0836

The box is nice  painting of Vader on one side the Death Star on the other space inside and the prototype pictured with the features listed

DSCF0840

with Vader size comparison

There is a button on the shoulder on the left shoulder for 3x Gun fx with lights  and a stomach button for the over 15 movie accurate phrases (Vader figure only one in the line to use someone else voice and not James earl Jones which is weird) all cool
Being critical its plastic its shiny and as you can see where the button is it’s a square showing box,yes all exactly like the real life suits the matte black under-suit the detail all as per the film,it would appear for now  there concentrating on the first film

DSCF0849

I like it looks good in the cabinet and Body Guard to Lord Vader only took 16 years to get a Trooper
Also as part of the promotion Disney store is giving away some nice cards that on rear form the second movie poster while on front

So head down to a disney store have a look

EDIT new video

The Cupboard of Rassilon

As a Dalek would say “DECORATE” and i did

I have my little ” cupboard  looking nice all shiny white walls and my cabinets are in

the special thing here was to make it fit round everything so it flowed and worked as a whole, so i designed its lay out to have purpose and create more floor space
things set right up to the wall it works.
now not much but this humble collection is mine and now i got it looking to sweet

display room

and i know you greedy lot wana see others so here we go

my colection shelf

this is my who shelves and a paint to get right ,but are now spot on and made from scrap and skip finds and a bit of paint et voila shelves

now my big models and RC stuff on top as you can clearly see no room for a upcoming 3rd scale classic K9 RC but i wont say no to one as a pressie 🙂 under that is MY shelf, yes this room is the ultimate selfish trip my room my way, so L-R, Revenge of the Cybermen ,Remembrance of the Daleks ,Pyramids of Mars and Death to the Daleks ,all my fave stories immortalized in plastic form under that some of my TARDISes L-R Masters Tardis 70’s computer bank ,Smith Capaldi custom , Tennant Eccleston, 80s circa S19 and McCoy McGann box with the Masters TARDIS Grandfather clock custom and an unseen but there hat stand  add some awesome pictures a graphic or two the console diagram from the tech manual is behind the tardises and done

my who cabinet stuff

now thinking aghhhhh no blurred ,im being creative you get the idea im sure, this is my small lot (main focus is classic not new)

I think of this shelf as being the two Timelords discuss the doctor and the rest is a visual aide of what they’re talking about around them
yes that is original miss piggy rose figure and ecclestone these are the first figures ever made from them came this lot including and nice to have out my custom stuff like iron legionaries, delgado in suit Key to Time Tom etc

and on top shelf nearly all 13 Doctors (always one missing caught in a sodin vortex ,again, and not there) but as i grew up with 12 regenerations, 13 lives, and with CO decideing to shrink the range (due to lack of funds and resources ) to 3 inch tall things im out of that one  then this is for me a closing and end of the line i am missing a couple of big characters, Brigadier and Ainley Master, but i can pick them up at my leisure and whenever CO decided to get thumb out of their ass and just accept Ainley was the master for over a decade
and also last year i got Ace ,and at hi school i watched McCoy stories everyone pretty much and like him and his Dr and love Ace so this does feel like an end like ive done it ,
CO will only focus on the 70s and nothing but ,we got a couple of things from 80s ,if they do more ill pick some up that i like at my leisure but yeah im happy job done cabinet full

DSCF0526 dwace14

you can see the build a figure figures as well there and my collection of Dapol and tat from over the years ,a fave being a bubble bath for the 25th anniversary warm nostalgia there

Then there is this ,this i had on my door (guess how it got wrecked) in 88 and i made it on my to do list this year to get and aint she gorgeous the poster was fresh in mag like the day it was released

DWM_FG_148This truly is my room and what a blast of nostalgia and how nice to have these things in it ,my who stuff  and my comic stuff ,how good it is for me to have back stuff i did have
so really is reaching completion few bits left to do

so aside from that what else is new

dvd-cover-template coa

Making DVD covers or re making them as the standard ones don’t float my boat and some stories i really like and would like proper covers for

DSCF0618

DSCF0612

Taking a die-cast Dalek and giving it a  repaint , one is pristine like the Dalek story after it just soaked up 1.21 gigawats of electricity
and the other now looks more dirty and battered and how we  see them now,
not easy ,plastic fine metal and weathering hard work, lots of trial and error but done

Now onto props and looking forward to sometime this year getting a Cyber head made then who knows

SCI FI

I got to milling round and spent a Minute throwing up this my time line of SCI FI,
basic ,simple nothing in depth was not meant to be, i Er aah over some admissions and leaving out Terminator/ Robocop amongst others
For me this is just where it began to where we are up to ,lots of books missed and of course any list is subjective
so here is my list of sci fi

Red dwawrf X

It is back boys are back in town and it is back on form after return to earth rubbish
It is old skool true original Dwarf no doubt it is a chuckle fest with good one liners it has a old skol charm a new style with the grungy look the models as well as cgi it is back and like no time has passed

THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD BE DONE

it is brilliant stuff i really liked the star trek style costumes tong firmly in cheek and the models look brilliant so real far better than any CGI

What like Star Wars, Star Trek and Doctor who did were successful and heavily praised and admired for ,for decades ?

Super Models

Update on Red Dwarf X visual effects.
3 February, 2012
You may have seen a fair amount of buzz about this on Twitter already this week, but we know that you won’t believe anything’s really true until you see it here on reddwarf.co.uk. So in an announcement that we suspect is going to make a lot of fans very happy, we can now confirm: Red Dwarf X will feature brand new model shots.
Super Models
A bit of history, for those of you who aren’t already automatically jumping for joy upon seeing those words in black and white. The “in space” sequences across the entirety of the first six series were accomplished by filming beautifully detailed miniature models of Red Dwarf, Starbug and a vast array of guest ships. Constructed by Peter Wragg’s visual effects team, these models (as seen above) helped give the series a look and feel far beyond its budget.
In the seventh and eighth series, however, although model sequences were still present, they were only a supplement to the now-predominant CGI animation created by Chris Veale. A huge model of the redesigned Red Dwarf ship was built for the Remastered video release in 1997, but was rendered in CGI for its use both in those episodes and Series VIII rather than being directly shot on camera. In Back to Earth, meanwhile, time and budget considerations meant that it was impractical to use models for the brief establishing shot of the ship – and so a new CGI version of a now-shortened design was used.
Super Models
For Series X, however, the decision has been made to take the visual effects back towards their roots – and so, as part of the final week of pickup shooting at Shepperton Studios, a special area has been given over to the second unit, in order that they can shoot space-bound sequences featuring actual, tangible ship miniatures. Other visual effects methods will of course be used in the series as and when appropriate – but the ships themselves will be models.

can i be first to say “Get in”
The Actors look tad older but still have it and in grand scheme of things it truly does not matter they have gone back to there roots and it shows it is not trying to reinvent a wheel here just be what it is

I most enjoyed the dialog and the phyco android with usb slot this was witty original and well played
The new costume is nice and listers i thought was a old one but its new i loved the sets and the car seats  ,is this really on a flat sound stage floor ? Looks epic so many levels has to be carefully used nice to see it done so on the flat and old skool
Truly busting at seems of joy on this warms the cockles to se this done and done so well proving a lot of people very very wrong
I remember this on TV series one when i was at school !!!, 🙂 Starbug on shelf proudly

Now someone link mr Moffett to this please so he can see it
